The Cranford Hockey Club is the oldest travel hockey club in New Jersey with a culture and tradition second-to-none. As one of the few non-profit hockey clubs in New Jersey, we are committed to making ice hockey available to the largest number of boys and girls in an affordable way. As one of the few hockey clubs with an all-volunteer organization from the board to the coaches, we strive to keep costs low for families.
But sadly, hockey is still unaffordable for too many. Unlike baseball, soccer, football or basketball where there are numerous courts or fields in every town, ice is scarce and expensive, keeping too many children and young people from a sport that will help them gain confidence, make friends and grow as human beings in a way that’s unique from other sports.
As such, the Cranford Hockey Club is starting a scholarship program to bring hockey to communities who have long been left out of the hockey world. Our club’s home rink is Warinaco Park, which straddles Elizabeth and Roselle. Unfortunately, very few of the hundreds of families that are part of the Cranford Hockey Club come from Elizabeth, Roselle or any of the municipalities of eastern Union County.
Over the next few years, we will change that.
We will offer scholarships both to our Learn-to-Play program for beginners and for full-year travel players as they learn the game, focused first on our home rink’s hometowns of Elizabeth and Roselle, and quickly expanding beyond.
The Cranford Hockey Clube is a 501c3 non-profit organization.
