The CHC Difference

The CHC Difference - The Way Youth Sports Should Be

The Cranford Hockey Club (CHC) is the oldest youth hockey club in New Jersey, providing the best value in the region.  We are a non-profit, family-focused organization led by volunteers and coaches (many of whom have played competitively) driven by a love of the game.

We have the right priorities for youth hockey ... and are decidedly not a year-round club.  Like USA Hockey and experts in the field citing reams of supporting data, we believe our players should take a break during the off-season.  They should play other sports or just enjoy being kids for a while!

We believe young players should be introduced to the game in a fun and engaging environment, such as our cross-ice Mite programs implementing USA Hockey’s American Development Model, and grow and develop with an opportunity to play competitively as members of the New Jersey Youth Hockey League. Our Mission is to develop not only great hockey players, but great people of strong character who value teamwork and sportsmanship while reaching their maximum potential in a fun environment.

If you have any questions, please click here and a Board member or CHC Ambassador will be sure to reply . . or feel free to speak with anyone already in our family. Based on our end of season survey results, 98% of respondents were satisfied with their hockey season and over 95% would recommend the Cranford Hockey Club. Better Product, Lower Tuition

We are driven by passion, not profit, and are run by volunteers with deep hockey backgrounds who want to give back to the game that they love.

We are focused on providing an experience that builds sound hockey fundamentals in a fun and family oriented environment that will keep players coming back for years to come.

We believe that Cranford provides tremendous value for your hockey dollars.

A typical week includes being on the ice four times (two games and two practices) and along with dryland training in the early part of the season.  This means that your child will play at least 40 games per season, 4 hours/week on the ice, 2-3 tournaments per season, and a focus on player development while having fun.

Our Coaching Staff

Cranford Hockey Club prides itself on having among the most dedicated and passionate coaching staffs in the area.   Our USA Hockey certified coaches are all parent volunteers who coach because they love the game of hockey and want to give something back to the sport that has given so much to them.  They also happen to have significant playing and coaching experience – our staff counts many NCAA Division 1, Division 3, and ACHA alumni, along with several with professional hockey experience.  Simply put, our coaches have the best combination of high level hockey experience mixed with community volunteerism that ensures a great youth sports experience for your child.

We Believe In Developing The Whole Athlete

CHC is not a year-round Club. Like USA Hockey, we believe young athletes should play other sports. Doing so develops the whole athlete. More importantly, it avoids burn-out and keeps our players excited for the next season.

Regional Club

Simply put: you do not need to be from Cranford to play for the Cranford Hockey Club.  We are diverse and draw players regionally for over 35 local towns: Cranford, Westfield, Scotch Plains, Fanwood, Clark, Union, Roselle Park, Linden, Summit, North Plainfield, and beyond!

New Jersey's Oldest Youth Hockey Club

Avoid the insanity in much of youth hockey today. The Cranford Hockey Club has been around for over 60 years!  We are stable, family-focused, non-profit Club with the right priorities that will guide us long into the future. We’ll be here when what is old becomes new again.
